Pre-hack design work
My pitch for AngelHack Toronto 2012
My Health RecordProblem
- I've been hearing about Ontario's EHR, and always thought it was a bad idea for privacy. Anytime you build a central database, it eventually leaks, and then you get a privacy disaster.
What's the solution?
- A de-centralized personal health record, based on OpenID authentication and authorization
- a de-centralized system means that bits and pieces might be compromized, but you won't have millions of people's records at risk, like you would in a central database
- it would work like this:
- you personally choose your health record supplier (its cost would be fully subsidized, you just choose based on the reputation of the suppliers)
- similarly, doctors and labs would choose their own supplier
- you grant access to your personal health record to your doctor and lab
- then, doctor notes and lab results would be posted to your health record
What I need
- I'm a developer
- I want to build a reference implementation using node.js and MongoDB, to be made open-source, to seed the ecosystem
- if the team is interested and big enough, other tech stacks can be built
- I also need:
- someone knowledgeable about OpenID details would be great
- UX and designers
- health industry expertise
